I'm proposing to reduce the tax rate to 7% for MNCs
It's even lower in some cases, with a 0% rate applied to certain partners
***
I oppose the 30% rates introduced by the AKD JVP gov't
I find that level excessive, it damages the economy to overtax, because people struggle to invest as businesses
The taxes are a mandatory cost of doing business which people must plan for, so we want it to be as low as possible
The idea that banks or financial firms
And everyone
is treated the same
Or required to pay 30% feels unfair
Not all companies are the same
Some firms are doing work that has a positive social impact
Taxing them at 30% could reduce their ability to carry out that work
I find the Anura administration's approach to be restrictive
Many large firms rely on net income to service debts
They may struggle to meet principal loan repayments under current conditions
