I suppose if people reject me, they must live with their choices. That's a difficult decision they have to make. As we all know, there is a movement sometimes referred to as "This is Sri Lanka" that shapes culture and public attitudes. We choose to accept the will of the people: if they decide on a course we believe may not succeed, we stop resisting and trying to persuade them, and recognize that their decision may reflect different motivations or misunderstandings rather than ill intent. When they decline the help or examples of goodwill offered to them, we learn to cooperate with that reality. It's as simple as that. By process of elimination, this seems the most plausible way for me to understand Sri Lanka. Success has many fathers, and nobody wants to be the parent of failure. But we could go so much further by accepting parentage of our nation with maturity first. I hope people here will choose to think long.
