I feel that in their defense, they shaped more "healthy, wholesome and positive" outcomes; rather than if toxic figures like Vito Corleone, Tony Montana and Patrick Bateman were the only archypes ("types") that people were exposed to, and cheering, and trying to emulate as "cool"; I admire how in Star Wars, Mando, and Last of Us, there was a new cool achieved in the protagonist, as a man who cares, who puts others before himself and fights for good causes.

But in the recent past, after WW2, it was all about the vilification of the "hero" █████████████████████████████████████████ which is why we cheered the rebel, the anti-villain and underdog. We saw how Vito or Michael chose to save their family, Tony Montana████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████

That's why many of those older movies are often regarded as "superior" by some; as they re-shaped how we saw life, morality and each other as a interconnected society.
