Editorial credibility needs boundaries

The day’s notes also drifted into politics, foreign policy, and national-security commentary—big topics that can be written well, but only if handled with discipline.

A credible publisher distinguishes:

  • what was observed
  • what was heard
  • what is opinion
  • what is unknown

That separation does not weaken voice. It strengthens it. Strong writing can be forceful without pretending to be omniscient.
