Turning National Service Into a Loud, Safe One-Day Rite

December 5, 2022

A childhood memory of refusing to fire a rifle becomes a policy idea: a short national service built around safety gear, reduced harm, confidence-building, and the kind of theatrical toughness I compare to Dumbledore's Army.

Story

3:00 p.m.

I went to army camps with Prasad Samarasinghe. When I was asked to fire a rifle. I didn't do so. Because it was too f***ing loud. When I push my National Military Service program. 1 day only or and 1 week.

But we will use ear plugs, ear muffs. We can use some silencer as well. I think that the ammunition we use will also be modified so they don't kill. I think I'll be opting for those 5.56mm tracer rounds, which we can see whizzing past.

I think I know, our kids, will be super tough. They will have strong confidence.

Plus, it's only 1 day.

It's like a Hogwarts, defence against the dark arts course.
