I don't want to maintain close relationships with people I've chosen to distance myself from. I feel more comfortable with a smaller circle. Often this becomes a snowball: as I gain money, seek greater privacy, or take on more confidential work, I look for increasingly exclusive options or people, and that can create complications.

As I'm naturally more private, it seems likely to be the path I follow.
