I remember telling them with a straight face:
I liked her research, so I also went through her bibliography, I liked those references also.
So, I jotted them down.
If I read those same references, I have every right to write those down.
There is no rule to forbid it.
They told me not to do it, assigned the plagiarism officer, then, they showed me this:
They basically say, "Lehan, even if you cite them, it is STILL WRONG".

It was a good learning experience.
I was confused. I was lucky they intervened early. Or it could have gone wrong.
I think -- the reason it happened -- was because there were so few academic peer reviewed articles on cocoa
So, I was forced to choose from a narrow list.
I am very lucky it happened, I was able to learn
