Why Shakespeare in Love Deserved the Oscar

Comparing, Saving Private Ryan and Shakespeare In Love, and I know SPR had a great opening shot, very beloved and is hella patriotic, but Shakespeare's writing, as you'd expect, was superb.
Shakespeare in Love has the audience glued in, on their story, their romance. It was just a better movie. This is why they deserve the Oscar they won. Even now, reading through it, the words are so hypnotic.

Calling Myself a Diarist and Rejecting Political Murder

I don't like this either. I think, that I am not just a writer, but a journalist, and more, a diarist.
The things written here, are more valuable than any memoir or any kind of newspaper article or expose, because they are my personal opinions that are drawing from credible sources.

I think I am a prime example of a journalist. Nothing happened to me because Sri Lanka treats journalists a lot better than thought out to be.

Colour-Coding the Script and Making It Look Better

I like to use blue for dialogue and red for instructions, black for names, gray for text in my script.
I changed the spacing options, so, that it is starting on the left side margin, but when it is finalized, it is edited to the corrected margin position.
This is not done correctly, it is just for a fun joke, that was generated quickly for display.
Over here, the red and gray, it was wrong, I think that this was supposed to be gray, and not red, but I just wanted to show an instruction.
A red instruction is separate and different, it's usually a stage/ camera direction or even a direction to the actor to do something. I am not sure. I don't care.
I just make this up as I go along.
I think I removed any red instructions, replacing them with text directions instead. I can use red for something else, like red instructions, depending on how it goes.
I think red, I can use for something important, or a very specific instruction not commonly fit in the script.
It looks beautiful.
Usually, script writers, they write in black, it's ugly as hell, and my Fair and Lovely beautification products go a long way.
If you look at any other script, no matter where, even the ones in Hollywood, they look very ugly. They are all in black and white, in old Courier.
My one looks a lot better.
Much the same way as my movie will look better.
Eating the Lindt Chocolate and Debating Whether to Confess

I greedily ate 2 x blocks of the Lindt chocolate. I will confess my deplorable crime to my mum. I think i have eaten 6 out of 10 blocks.
A part of me, the evil inclination wolf, it wants to eat the whole chocolate now, and then, hide the evidence, but the good inclination, wants to confess, hand it over to my sister Lehara, brother Milan and mum.
I think, if it had 10 blocks, and there is 2 blocks remaining, I must've eaten 8, or else, if there are 4 blocks remaining, then I have only eaten 6.
I feel ashamed of myself. I have done a horrible deed. I am not a good person.
Admitting Greed and Comparing It With Chadu’s Cash Story

I am very greedy. I habitually take more than I should. I eat greedily. I have to correct this trait.
I think I will change.
I am proud of my honesty.
Cousin Chadu, he told me, when I was young, he saw a lot of cash downstairs in his house, that Jagath kept, it was foreign currency.
Chadu has stolen it, kept it for himself, never admitted or ever said anything, or returned any of it.
I at least declare everything I do.
Preferring Dark American Humour to Polite British Comedy

I have a very warped, dark sense of humor. It's very disturbing, sick, and it's not good.
I profoundly dislike British humor. I can't stand European humor.
The only jokes that get me laughing are very wicked, usually American, they are often hateful, insulting and evil -- only British jokes I like are Sweeney Todd, but that's an American too.
They are too nice, and dry, I like direct, offensive and very harsh jokes.
Quentin's a terrific writer. I love this kind of thing.
I am bored shitless in Sri Lanka, the people here are very decent folk, innocent folk, nothing at all like myself, and I can't put up with any of them because it's seriously not entertaining enough.
Everyone in my life has met the minimum quota of base entertainment value.
