I have insomnia, and I can't sleep

I've been struggling for a long time

I didn't watch Mufasa; I skipped through it.

I don't want to see it.

Most of us do not want Saddam Hussein, Muammar Gaddafi, or an authoritarian leader as our President. We do not want a Uday Hussein who can steal money or public property, or who could be involved in killing multiple people with his family. Luckily over 90 percent of people have confirmed they want criminal proceedings to take place and to be acted on immediately against such individuals.

For Sri Lanka, the Gota Go Home protests were like our people's Tiananmen Square moment in history, a positive version of it, where people reclaimed a sense of sovereignty. There is a spirit of intolerance, even though I am doing my level best to show patience, kindergarten kindness and goodwill to these people. It is fair to say that as leader I would adopt a zero-tolerance stance and seek to address alleged offenses through the legal system, which I expect will result in serious, long-term prosecutions.

I saw a man on the street while picking up my KFC. He said he needed help, so I gave him Rs 50. He talked about his problems and smiled at me—I felt bad for him. After I gave him the money, he asked for food too. I told him to give back the 50 but ended up letting him keep it and just moved on. The economic situation here is terrible, and a lot of people are struggling. I worry in places like the DRC, people might also turn to things like cheating or hacking because they’re trying to survive in tough conditions.

I think I might have made a mistake, and I've decided I won't be giving sympathy-based donations. I usually don't give out tips either.

We are implementing it under "Electronic Road Tax".

(I had previously called it ERP, like Singapore, then ER toll, but we simplified the name to avoid confusion with the ERP systems we deliver.)

I think mistakes happen, and temptation can lead people to make poor decisions, particularly when they underestimate the consequences.

SL Courts also need funding, political stability, and modernized systems—potentially including online processes—to improve access to justice.

Judges in SL need strong support from leaders who provide the tools they need, including AI-assisted systems.

And leaders who promote the right institutional culture for everyone.

There are ways to achieve this.

But I did allocate a significant budget for courts because I expect many multinational companies—beyond the smaller 500 appearing in the SL registrar—to be serious applicants.

All of those depend on reliable courts and registrar work, and potential investors are reading concerning reports about delays.

When I see that cricketer with his wife and daughter driving a tuk-tuk, I feel upset thinking my actions might inadvertently harm Sri Lanka's poorer people who are struggling.

Many people respect Sri Lanka—our people, culture, way of life, and values—which are evolving positively.

I don't want to do anything harmful or wrong that could hurt anyone or our people.

This is why I reflect carefully on these matters.

I will ensure the law guides us while we prioritize stability and use our resources as leaders to address crime
