Cold Symptoms + Contagion Fear: Monday Survival Mode

March 16, 2020

Cold symptoms and Covid fear pushed me into straight survival mode, where congestion, flashbacks, medication dependence, and panic about being stuck in Sri Lanka all crowded out normal perspective.

1:30 p.m.

I have a pretty bad cold. I was in my room. I need to check the status on my laptop.

2:45 p.m.

I had a good lunch. I liked the Great Wall restaurant black pepper fish. I should eat more. I'm going to take some paracetamol or Panadol/Tylenol. There's no Ibuprofen sadly, my mum doesn't know what that is. ███████████████████

RW DGM Ferhad Jamshed Nilgiriya told me that the lodge meetings were all cancelled until further notice. I think it's a good call. I'm really feeling sick. I have no fever, but my stomach is aching, I'm having a bad cold. I should survive, it's usually older, feeble men who die. Basically, majority of Sri Lanka's Freemasonry. I hope nobody I know dies.

I think even if coronavirus Covid 19 happens to me, I'll probably be okay. I'll survive. I'm 45kg, but I'm physically fit and healthy and strong. I should manage to survive. It's sadly likely that the infection will spread, a lot of people will die. China reacted too slowly, too carelessly and obviously, now it's too little too late. I'll do a list of virus information soon.

3:00 p.m.

This is a LIST OF SYMPTOMS that can happen as a result of mutation, extracted from Plague Inc:

  1. Nausea: Nausea causes stomach discomfort and the urge to vomit; it does not itself spread infection, though close contact may transmit a contagious illness.
  2. Coughing: Coughing expels respiratory droplets that can spread droplet- or airborne pathogens, especially in crowded indoor environments.
  3. Rash: A rash causes inflamed, itchy, painful, or blistered skin; transmission risk rises only if lesions break and release infectious fluid.
  4. Insomnia: Insomnia is persistent difficulty falling or staying asleep, leading to fatigue, irritability, poor concentration, and reduced productivity.
  5. Cysts: Cysts are enclosed sacs filled with fluid, pus, or other material; if infected and ruptured, they can release infectious material.
  6. Anaemia: Anaemia is a low red blood cell count or low haemoglobin level, which reduces oxygen delivery to tissues and can cause fatigue, weakness, and organ hypoxia in severe cases.
  7. Vomiting: Vomiting forcefully expels stomach contents and can spread infection if infectious material contaminates people, surfaces, food, or water.
  8. Pneumonia: Pneumonia is infection or inflammation of the lungs that causes fluid or pus to fill the air sacs, leading to cough, fever, chest pain, and shortness of breath; severe cases can be fatal.
  9. Sneezing: Sneezing releases respiratory droplets that can significantly increase transmission of pathogens spread by droplets or aerosols.
  10. Sweating: Sweating is increased perspiration, often due to fever or stress; it does not usually spread infection by itself but can worsen dehydration and discomfort.
  11. Paranoia: Paranoia causes irrational suspicion or mistrust of others, which can delay treatment and reduce cooperation with care.
  12. Hypersensitivity: Hypersensitivity is an exaggerated immune response that can trigger allergies, inflammation, or even anaphylaxis.
  13. Abscesses: An abscess is a painful pocket of pus caused by infection; if it ruptures or drains, infectious material can contaminate nearby tissue or surfaces.
  14. Haemophilia: Haemophilia is a clotting disorder—usually due to deficient or blocked clotting factors such as factor VIII or IX—that causes prolonged bleeding and raises the risk of internal haemorrhage.
  15. Pulmonary Oedema: Pulmonary oedema is fluid build-up in the lungs, usually from heart failure or severe lung injury, that severely impairs breathing and can rapidly become life-threatening.
  16. Fever: Fever is an elevated body temperature caused by infection or inflammation; it increases fluid loss and can become dangerous when very high or prolonged.
  17. Inflammation: Inflammation is the body’s response to injury or infection, causing swelling, pain, heat, and redness; severe inflammation can impair organ function or obstruct breathing.
  18. Tumours: Tumours are abnormal growths caused by uncontrolled cell division; malignant tumours can invade tissue, spread, and become fatal.
  19. Diarrhoea: Diarrhoea causes frequent loose or watery stools, spreads many infections by the faecal-oral route, and can lead to severe dehydration.
  20. Pulmonary Fibrosis: Pulmonary fibrosis is scarring of the lungs that causes progressive shortness of breath, dry cough, and reduced oxygen transfer; advanced disease can cause respiratory failure.
  21. Immune Suppression: Immune suppression weakens the body’s ability to fight infection by damaging immune cells or interfering with immune signalling, increasing the risk of severe or opportunistic illness.
  22. Skin Lesions: Skin lesions are areas of damaged or abnormal skin, such as sores or ulcers; open or infected lesions can leak fluid and increase transmission through direct contact.
  23. Seizures: Seizures are bursts of abnormal brain activity that can cause convulsions, blackouts, confusion, or loss of awareness; prolonged seizures can be fatal.
  24. Paralysis: Paralysis is the partial or complete loss of voluntary muscle movement due to damage to the brain, spinal cord, or nerves, and it can be life-threatening if breathing muscles are affected.
  25. Systemic Infection: A systemic infection spreads beyond one site to the bloodstream or multiple organs, raising the risk of sepsis, organ damage, and death.
  26. Internal Haemorrhaging: Internal haemorrhaging is bleeding inside the body from damaged blood vessels or organs; it can quickly lead to shock and death.
  27. Dysentery: Dysentery is a severe intestinal infection that causes bloody diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and dehydration, often spreading through contaminated food or water.
  28. Insanity (non-clinical term): Severe psychiatric symptoms can profoundly disrupt judgement, behaviour, and emotional control, making self-care and treatment much harder.
  29. Necrosis: Necrosis is the death of body tissue caused by infection, injury, or loss of blood supply; it can lead to gangrene and become a source of further infection.
  30. Haemorrhagic Shock: Haemorrhagic shock occurs when severe blood loss prevents adequate oxygen delivery to tissues, causing low blood pressure, organ failure, and possible death.
  31. Coma: A coma is a prolonged state of unconsciousness with little or no response to stimuli, reflecting severe brain dysfunction and carrying a risk of death or permanent disability.
  32. Total Organ Failure: Total organ failure is the catastrophic loss of function across multiple vital organs, causing rapid collapse of the body and usually death.

3:15 p.m.

I'll drink some tea, or hopefully my mum's Nescafe Gold Instant Coffee 200grams which she has hidden from me. I feel really sick. I'm also going to eat a bit more because I'll need energy to beat whatever infection. It can be that I have Covid 19. I don't know, it's not that bad. Only 25 to 35% need hospitalization anyway.

4:15 p.m.

Jesus ███████ Christ, Italy has gotten hit really badly. My thoughts are with Valentina . Hehe I like their food too. Although, I much prefer American food. Nothing like a smoked beef brisket -- Texas style.

I think 200 people die per day in Italy. I think Japan will suffer too. They're all old people. My aunt Ramani Loku Ammi is asking me to visit Thilanga uncle's place for some bread and a chat. But I have the cold, so, I don't want to spread it. I really want some bread though. I made myself some tea. My nose is running. I hate being sick.

4:30 p.m.

Softlogic Dell Repair shop isn't picking up. It's Monday. They close at 5:00 p.m., but with coronavirus they must be closed. If Kasun, the engineer, can't fix my RAM stick, they'll anyway have to import a RAM stick that'll take 2 weeks. That means I've just got my phone. I don't care. My nose is aching. Jesus f***ing Christ, this Covid 19 is disrupting business big time.

8:00 p.m.

I'm feeling sick with flu. Grateful it's not coronavirus. I think in 5 day's time, I'll recover from flu or cold. It's likely influenza. I'll then be able to develop some immuno resistance. If G-d forbid, or G-d willing, I get coronavirus, I think I can survive and recover from it. My nose is aching, I had Great Wall restaurant food -- I liked the roast chicken deviled.

10:30 p.m.

██████████████████████████████████████████ I saw some high def photos, yuck lol. I'm going to sleep. I spilled some water on my bed mattress, I doubt it'll spoil. It was just like 50 ml or something. I'm so sleepy. My nose hurts so much. I spoke with Kasuni and Chinthaka to plan the week.

█████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████ It's just 20 now in week 1, but it'll somehow go up to 300 in week 2 and then 900 or 3,000 in week 3. It'll go up to 10,000 in week 4. Some dude has infected an entire camp which is under quarantine now in Sri Lanka according to my mum. I finished playing Plague Inc on my mobile. It was fun.
