I am reading through the Moonlight script. It has won awards. Uses foul language. You would be forgiven for expecting myself to like it--I do not.
I think that for me, I really like Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight, it uses foul language, the N word, often. But in an entertaining, jovial way.
I do not believe that the Moonlight script casts it in an entertaining, amusing way. It is far more dramatic, in a defeatist, pathetic manner.
I think, what I learn from it, is that my own work, it is not necessary to deploy foul language. It is better to go with a family friendly dialogue.
