I'm wondering stuff.

Should we close all these universities just to make one Sri Lanka University?

Well.

The trouble is most people won't then be able to get a good university education.

Seems a bit ruthless and stupid sometimes.

We could still give them the lesser SLU Global Learning program...

External courses.

In Singapore, they have NUS, and then everything else.

No real point in the rest.

The ranking is too low.

People will just go for sake of paper qualification for their office wall

We should be mindful

Closing the local universities, means, that if we have SLU only, then, the ranking will get cannibalized if there are low grade score students being accepted.

That sucks.

We have a target of top 100. Top 500 maybe.

I'm just wondering..

So suddenly, it's no longer about which university you went to, but what did you study, and what modules or what scores in courses, what essays you wrote, your character, and then, also, what your average score is, what your final grading is.

So 80% is first class. 90% is double first or something. I don't know..

I wrote it on my laptop. Can't remember the bands I used.

But that's the best value for our people.

So you have an academic community.

We want a work life balance. No more nerds. No more partying only. So no point nerding it out, as you will never really have a life then.

If it is SLU, then rank is top 500, that's a big deal, and if average score is 70%, well, it's subjective but you can see their answers or research or essays, and then final grading is around B+ or A or Second Upper Class.

That's better than a Rank 1,560. Which means nothing. Because you're not going to be able to compete with a Rank 10 or higher.

So this is a good direction.

The grading matters. I think sure, we will see. It could be a zero sum game elo point system.. but it's subjective. So we should see. I have a good feeling about it..

Even if we accept strong characters with low scores, then we don't suffer too much blood loss with ranking. When we do tough open grading. I think we need an internal academic expertise point system for running this.
