Namal is described as a "good leader". However, many people in SL appear to prefer Anura presenting himself in a manner similar to Sirisena; in other words, they have used their vote to focus on holding Rajapaksa accountable for alleged misconduct. Many seem to perceive their choices as between Rajapaksa and Anura, familiar political options that people here feel represent them.
I have, in any case, lost, and I expect I would most likely be unsuccessful again. I am regarded as a foreigner with perspectives shaped abroad, and I am now associated with a US business.
