Dear SLT-MOBITEL Team,
I’m Lehan Edirisinghe, founder of AngryPages Inc, a California publishing company now reaching close to 300,000 unique visitors a month.
I’m writing because I think there is a natural partnership between SLT-MOBITEL and AngryPages.
AngryPages is currently available in English and Sinhala. We have already helped Sri Lankan writers take work created here, translate it into English, publish internationally, and earn money from overseas readers.
Sri Lankan authors on AngryPages have now earned over US$100 from readers across 6+ countries.
One of the clearest examples is Tenali, a young Sri Lankan writer whose book has already sold in three countries outside Sri Lanka.
The Daily Mirror also profiled AngryPages in April 2026 as a California-based platform helping Sri Lankan writers monetize original work and reach the higher-value U.S. reading market:
That is what I would like SLT-MOBITEL to help us scale:
help Sri Lankan children write, publish and reach readers internationally.
There is also a personal reason I am approaching SLT.
My father helped found the Chamber of Young Lankan Entrepreneurs (COYLE), so I grew up around the idea that Sri Lankan businesses should build things here, create opportunity here, and compete internationally.
I also remember meeting President Anura Kumara Dissanayake at COYLE, where he told me that SLT would not be sold. That stayed with me. SLT is one of the Sri Lankan institutions capable of taking an idea from a small pilot to national scale.
Mr. Thilanga Sumathipala’s period leading SLT and Mobitel also stands out to me. SLT completed its IPO during his chairmanship, widening the opportunity for Sri Lankans to participate in its growth, while projects such as Rainbow Pages reflected the same instinct to build local information infrastructure rather than depend entirely on something imported.
My proposal is therefore not simply to buy advertising from SLT-MOBITEL.
I would like to explore SLT-MOBITEL becoming the founding telecommunications and technology partner of an AngryPages young-author program, perhaps beginning with a small group of schools.
We already have projects with schools and universities under discussion. AngryPages would provide the publishing platform, translation support, books and author pages, helping children turn their writing into a permanent digital asset that can reach readers beyond Sri Lanka.
SLT-MOBITEL could help us scale that through sponsorship, connectivity, promotion, prizes, and relationships with schools and families.
If the pilot works, we can grow it nationally.
