Kalu Dodol, I can give some to my type 2 diabetic friend Jonathan Hirshon when he comes here. I am sure he will love it. I am not very sure what he can eat and what he cannot eat as a type 2 diabetic, I think he can eat a bit, but not too much sugar. I dunno anything at all about health stuff. He could teach me later.
It is a sweet dish, it is made from kittul or kithul jaggery, rice flour and coconut milk--it is delicious. It is apparently, according to Wikipedia a difficult and time consuming dish to make. It is one of my favourite.
Cousin Puthula Sumathipala Mayakaduwa's husband Janaka aiya's dad Chandrasiri uncle, took me to Mannar, Chillaw and Jaffna, he speaks fluent Tamil, we had great fresh seafood. I ate the lagoon prawns, I ate the shells too. He gave me some great fresh milk in Jaffna. He owns 500+ hectares of prawn ponds.
He got me some great Kalu Dodol and I gifted some to my mum. Chandrasiri uncle was like my dad, he taught me to run a business for 6 months. I am most grateful to Janaka aiya and Jagath mami for giving me this, something that nobody can ask for.
