Both Sinniah Gunasekeran alias Kimbula-Ela Guna and Jayakody Arachchige Ruwan Perera alias Olcott attempted to assassinate Kumaratunga -- and if she did not associate dangerous figures, she would not have been able to survive herself.
Frederica Jansz reported, Kumaratunge's security officials, Tilak Perera, Anil and Thusith Samarawickrema, Jagath Kumara Hewa Pathirana, Baddegana Sanjeewa and Yapa Bandaralage Sudath Chandana, have beaten up Lasantha Wickrematunge and his wife Raine in 1995 with clubs used as weapons.
