Never Say Never, Emma Stone, and Why I May Have to Leave

August 30, 2024 Lehan Edirisinghe

I spend the day arguing with myself about whether I am too intense, too dark, and too exposed to be accepted as a leader here. Emma Stone, Trump, my book, and the dream of serving people all stay in the frame, but so does the fear that publishing honestly could get me destroyed. By the end, the day becomes a real question about whether I should keep pushing or quit and leave Sri Lanka entirely.

The frame is from a YouTube video titled "Scouted: Siberian Fashion Model Casting | Op-Docs" by The New York Times. It features two individuals in an indoor setting, likely engaging in an interview. The woman on the left, wearing a black shirt with graphic text, is looking intently at the other person, who has long brown hair and is dressed in a dark top. They appear to be seated on a couch, and their expressions suggest a thoughtful conversation. The subtitle on the screen reads, "Do you have hopes?" indicating a deep or reflective question being posed. The scene suggests an intimate, possibly personal dialogue, focused on aspirations or future ambitions. The lighting is soft, and the background has a textured wall, adding to the cozy, informal atmosphere of the setting.

The image captures a scene from a YouTube video titled "I grew a Mcdonalds #2 meal" hosted on the channel Lifebymikeg. In this indoor setting, two rows of mason jars are neatly arranged on a kitchen countertop. Each jar contains a variety of pickled vegetables, showcasing different types of homemade pickles. The jars have blue labels with handwritten descriptions and dates, such as "Salt + Pepper Pickles 7/16," "Blessed + Buttered," and "Kimchi 8/17." McDonald’s as a Favorite Restaurant and School Lunch Promise

11:45 p.m. (b)

Wow. This is cool. McDonald's is my favorite restaurant. It's very hard to compete and compare. But it just is.

For me. It's just a personal choice.

I find the pickle in my cheeseburger.

If you vote me in, you're bringing McDonald's back

And I'd be delighted, f***ing ecstatic to eat it on Mondays with the kids in primary and secondary schools here
