Planting 20,000,000 Trees, My Biggest Project Ever!

- The 20-million-tree target proved impossible through volunteer planting alone. The first day produced just 300 trees, and even a much larger second-day turnout only brought the total into the thousands; the video provides no final campaign total.

“we only managed to plant 300 trees.”

- Mark Rober joined MrBeast to pursue a technological solution alongside mass volunteer participation. Rober was tasked with exploring drone-based planting while MrBeast mobilised people, and the two reportedly invested months preparing the project; no drone results are shown.

“He’s gonna try with the drone, and we’re gonna try with people.”

- MrBeast pivoted to a fundraising partnership with the Arbor Day Foundation. The new model assigned one tree to every dollar donated through TeamTrees.org or YouTube, allowing the campaign to scale beyond what its volunteers could physically plant.

“For every dollar you donate here on YouTube or at teamtrees.org, a tree will be planted.”

- Arbor Day's professional planting capacity became central to the campaign. MrBeast said the organisation and its partners had planted hundreds of millions of trees and could ensure high survival rates, making long-term tree survival a priority rather than simply counting seedlings.

“They've planted hundreds of millions of trees.”

- MrBeast personally committed $100,000 to the campaign. His pledge represented 100,000 trees and was presented as his own financial contribution, separate from public donations.

“I'm personally planting a hundred thousand trees, AKA a hundred thousand dollars donation.”

- MrBeast admitted his own environmental record had not always matched his new message. He acknowledged previous projects involving burning things and his former assumption that someone else would solve environmental problems, urging viewers to replace online activism with tangible contributions.

“That was basically someone else will figure it out.”
