Meet the author
Tenali Tashiya wrote and illustrated Scales, the Kind Crocodile at age 10, born June 2015, turning a made-up bedtime hero into her first published book. A Primary 5 student at St. Thomas' Catholic International College, Seeduwa, she coloured the artwork with Nishan Senevirathna and worked with designer Dilini Sewwandi to bring the pages together. Her parents, Nilmini Perera and Akila Surasinghe, supported the project from first draft to publication.
Scales tells his friends by the lake that he wants to be a superhero. They laugh. He decides to try anyway, packs a bag, and builds himself a flying machine.
Superhero School
A crocodile walks into Superhero School
Scales flies to Mauna Kea and finds a school for superheroes at the top. His classmates scream when he walks in — but his teacher, Mr. Jackson, welcomes him, and he earns his own cape and gadgets.
The rescue
A forest fire, and a boy trapped under a falling building
Scales carries frightened animals out of a burning forest one by one, then rushes to help when disaster strikes again — and this time, it's much more personal.

While reading the book, I found that Scales the crocodile was having his only dream was to fly. It was so interesting to have this book in my own hands. After I read it I filled like I want to read it any time when i'am bored because it cheers me up.
