Lee Kuan Yew's Warning Takes Over the Day

March 6, 2023

Dora the Explorer, Depeche Mode, and a model film only frame the page; the line that sticks is Lee Kuan Yew refusing to let Singapore be knocked down, which turns the day into a brief tribute to stubborn nation-building.

Sri Lanka’s Currency Devaluation and Short-Sighted Political Choices

8:45 p.m.

See this is what matters.

For an allegory, it's like:

200 to 365 is a 45% devaluation

200 to 330 is 40% devaluation.

But people here, being that they are scorers of 78 on IQ tests on average, clearly, they now say Nandalal Weerasinghe, is the hero, and not to diminish his achievement in raising interest rates up to 15.50%, but Jesus f***ing Christ, what is the matter with people here?

It's really pissed everyone off because the truth does hurt.

Over the last 75 years:

I think first few years, it was like $1 was 3.77 or Rs 4.00

Then, I remember, as a child, I am now 29, it used to be Rs 100

Later as I began to understand how hellish this place is, it became Rs 200

Now, it's 365, then 333.

What? Tomorrow: 300? Then, 250?

What the hell?

Am I supposed to be happy with this?

Are you?

If these vineyard operators killed the owner's son to keep it for themselves; and they give you a settlement of what, a few bottles or barrels?

You might be happy with that, I'm not.

I'm a real killer of crime in the metaphorical sense. Biblically speaking. And all the evidence, any confession you want, it's all here. Everyone knows that.

This is crazy. Dhammika is doing the same thing: the plan used by people who represent that "Rajapaksa crowd" according to critics (in my opinion to describe what I observe as a pattern, using simple language), is hey, let's steal ("earn"), and keep like 80 instead of 90, and instead of giving out 10, let's very generously give out 20 to our people instead, for some votes.

It's like going in to a casino, leaving with a comped, free complimentary room. After losing like $100,000 bucks, or a million.

And, so is voting for Dhammika. Voting for Dhammika Perera is like betting at a casino and hoping to win, it's to think you can bet your mother, wife, sister, daughter and girlfriend, hoping to win it all back...

It won't work.

The point here, is that the chronology, the way people see time, is too short sighted, that numeral myopia is the bane of this society.

We can't afford to lose track of our financials. Myopia just means shortsighted. It's the medical term for it. I don't like using big words. You can vote Sajith for that, if you want to be impressed by his use of a thesaurus.

I think Anura, you can vote, if you don't have any plans for the future. His JVP website, also, the same story. He's got no real plans for his future, or any strategy, besides winning an election. Because he knows nobody will vote if he shares his stupid strategies for politics or economy: a controlled, likely closed economy.

Remembering My Father, Rating Television and Defending My Diary

1:30 a.m.

It wasn't "all bad" with my dad. He would tell me ghost stories as a child. I still remember a few.

One was a bathtub full of blood. Another was, an anonymous phone call, with "I know what you did". He was alright. I miss him and forgive him. I think he wasn't that bad. Palith was pretty cool.

I miss Thathi. He was also a hero of mine, growing up.

This

The Last of Us is a very cool show.

I'd give it a 8/9 out of 10.

I feel that tv quality has improved a lot. HBO is always a winner. Sopranos, was 10/10. Game of Thrones. Breaking Bad, I believe, was not HBO, it was AMC, even Walking Dead, which spoiled me for zombies, but this is slightly better.

I think spin off, Fear the Walking Dead, with Madison, was incredible, but then it turned to s*** after season 2 quickly. Not just s*** hit the fan suck, but more like zombie meat spray on a fan grinder sucks.

Showtime's Billions 10/10. Some of their work was phenomenal. 10/10.

But it's hard to maintain that level of consistency or quality.

Except my masterpiece:

My diary.

10 / 10 every time.

I think my work, if I may be so bold, as to draw a comparison, my diary has liberated the many who read it as Buddha enlightened his own audience or as Jesus saved the many lost children walking the valley of darkness.

Ask yourself, when you read my mind daily or weekly or whenever you wish, don't you find yourself suddenly more confident, your standards enhanced and your sharper between your ears?

I could never charge you for this.

And I wouldn't accept any money to help anyone.

And I just couldn't even pay you a million bucks to read this story.

This is just something, just one of those things, you got to read and check out for yourself, to see what it's all about.

Because to me, I wouldn't enslave anyone for the world, and everything in it

And I'd die to free all of my brothers and sisters, and my fathers and mothers, and sons and daughters from the miseries we know and loathe in this life.

What, am I to buy your freedom like those Rothschilds bought slaves their freedom from their slavers?

What am I supposed to charge you for your freedom?

$10, or $1.00 or a $1,000 like , or $10,000 maybe, or $1,000,000 like Gage?

No. You deserve freedom because that's what you were born to be.

This dream, I don't want to ever wake up from it. Because it's this idea of freedom, some kind of abstraction, that drives everything.

This journey we're on, you will remember because you made all this happen. This journey from a hellhole to Paradise. Not the ugly Deepa Gestas way, but the Saint Dismas path, where we repent in penitence for our transgressions.

We will come out of this mess, as a successful people, who will be prized in every worldly conversations as the honored Sri Lankan nationals they respect, value and enjoy the friendship of.
