Not published — editorial standards were not met

How it began

We liked two early story pitches and invited the author to send a synopsis. Weeks later, he submitted under a pen name. AngryPages requires an accountable identity for publication, so we asked for a complete manuscript, real-name credit, photograph, biography, and presentation plan. He agreed to use a name based on his own initials, resolving the identity question.

Our decision

The synopsis still required more editing than the project could support and was not competitive enough for our list. We declined it promptly so the author could take the work elsewhere. He accepted the decision and closed the correspondence without dispute. Identity approval and editorial approval remain separate decisions.
